STRATA & 2K88

STRATA is an innovative project in the Polish rap scene, which combines the talent and experience of well-known figures such as Kosi (JWP, Jetlagz) and Hades (HiFi Banda) with the unique production skills of 2K88, known for his work with artists such as Syny and Brodka. Together they create something unique on the Polish music market.

STRATA’s debut album, entitled “SUBARU,” is an eclectic mix of different musical styles. Singles such as the melancholic “Radars,” the powerful phono-jungle “C65” and the dark “Kwit” show the diversity and depth of this project. These tracks are characterized by spontaneity of expression and freshness of sound, combining elements of different musical cultures from Kingston to London to Warsaw.

2K88 productions, such as the concurrently released instrumental album “SHAME,” further enrich the project. The “SHAME” album is characterized by bass, breaks and dub reverbs, with sampled elements of Polish rap, which introduce a nostalgic rap shtick. 2K88 boldly defines the “PL Sound” here, a term he has put into circulation, mixing humor with seriousness.

There are also many common musical elements in the background of the two albums, which were created in parallel. On both albums one can hear break playing, jungle, as well as other inspirations such as dubstep bass, baile funk rhythms, footwork and oberki.

The STRATA project and the albums “SUBARU” and “SHAME” from 2K88 are a significant step in the evolution of Polish rap music, showing how rich and complex modern music productions can be.
