This is a Szczecin band that draws from various areas of the broader rock and alternative scene in its own way. They debuted in 2023 with the album “current year recordings,” on which the band’s founders Kacper Stefanowski (guitar) and Kajetan Płonka (vocals) interestingly translated the cold wave and post-punk into their own language. The next album recorded with the full lineup is definitely more mature, both in terms of music and lyrics. On the one hand, it sounds very original, which is evident from the difficulty of finding clear points of reference for Mimikyu on the Polish scene. On the other hand, a careful ear will pick up that the band members are definitely soaking up the most interesting phenomena of the world stage, such as Viagra Boys or Fontaines D.C.
